Manager of Architecture

Position Description

The Manager of Architecture reports to the Director of Design. This position bridges creative design with practical construction, provides technical design leadership, and in-house quality control for all projects.  The Manager of Architecture will create, promote, and participate in the management of BIM standards and reinforce the firm’s commitment to advancing our use of technology with respect to the design process, presentations, and production of documents. This person is responsible for mentoring the design team through the Client's design process, demonstrating “best practices” related to client/consultant management, and reinforcing the Client's culture and brand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct quality assurance on all drawing documentation

  • Lead, create, and maintain firm-wide documentation, BIM procedures, standards, as well as reinforce the commitment to advancing our use of innovative technology including evolving 3D and visualization tools

  • Primary lead regarding detailing, code compliance of applicable building codes and accessibility requirements

  • Collaborate with the Directors and Project Managers to ensure the firm delivers projects that meet or exceed profitability margins, and client expectations

  • Lead staffing efforts and financial management of the projects ensuring that work conforms to schedule and overall work planning

  • Collaborate and strategize with firm leadership on project pursuits to maintain existing client relationships.

  • Be a mentor to team members by providing training, guidance, feedback, and direction on modeling and delivery methodologies

  • Assist the Director of Design in preparation and review of proposals, design fee estimates, contracts, and new project interviews

  • Support the Leadership Team regarding company policy and procedural decisions related to the goals of the company

Qualifications

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 5-year architecture program or a master’s degree from an accredited architecture program.  Degree must have been obtained in the United States.

  • Experience: 12+ years applicable experience, preferably in multifamily or senior living design

  • Professional Architecture license is required

  • Strong proficiency (current versions):  Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, 3D visualization software such as Enscape, Lumion, Twin Motion or equivalent

  • Proficiency Preferred:  Plan Grid, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite

  • Strong understanding of building codes and regulations, including ADA, ANSI, Fair Housing ACT, and local amendments of IBC

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

  • Possess strong leadership and communication skills

  • Additional:

    • Able to work on construction sites and non-conditioned environments

    • Transportation: Must have access to a vehicle, have the ability to drive, and travel via airplane

    • Willing to represent Client at various industry events

    • May be required to sign and seal documents

    • May be required to be registered in various states

    • This position has access to confidential financial and company information. Must possess the integrity and maturity to assure confidential information and documents are secure

    • This position requires 20% travel nationwide
